EU and us

I am back with very brief information about the EU programmes that I found.

I started with the volunteering part, presenting as well a bit about the Romanian context so we can compare it with Spain and in the end, we realized that there aren’t much differences.

As I myself am in a volunteering project, I opted to share more information about volunteering programmes, including European Solidarity Corps and the project through which I am in Murcia.

We then continued with the long list of funding opportunities. Here’s a tiny bit about what you can find out there:

  • European Solidarity Corps (ESC) – volunteering, traineeships and job opportunities for youth

  • Interreg Volunteering Youth – developing the regions of EU

  • EU Aid Volunteers (EUAid) – volunteering and developing the third world countries

  • The Financial instrument for democracy and human rights (IEDDH) – development and consolidation of democracy and human rights

  • Civic Society Organizations and Local Authorities (OSC-AL) – strengthening the civic society organisations and the local authorities

  • Global Public Goods and Challenges (GPGC) – consolidates the cooperation, capacity and exchange of knowledge and experiences for eradicating the poverty, for the social cohesion and sustainable development in associated countries

  • Europe for Citizens – understanding of the EU, foster EU citizenship, improve conditions of civic and democratic participation at EU level

  • Hercule II – protecting the financial interests of EU through combating the fraud, corruption and financial illegal activities

  • Justice – international human rights are promoted and protected

  • Rights, Equality and Citizenship – consolidating the gender equality, fighting discrimination and racism

  • Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) – supporting the implementation of projects with European interest like new infrastructure and services and improving the current ones, in areas like transportation, telecommunication and energy

  • European Structural and Investment Funds – consists of 5 branches:

  • European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) – promotes balanced development in the different regions of EU

  • European Social Fund (ESF) – employment-related projects and investment in human capital

  • Cohesion Fund (CF) – transport and environment for less developed countries of the EU

  • European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development (EAFRD) – resolving challenges of the rural areas

  • European Maritime and Fisheries Fund (EMFF) – sustainable fishing practices and support to the coastal communities to diversify their economy

The presentation I had for ACDC members was rather long but full of excitement every time a new programme came across. Many ideas and desires were revealed and I’m sure the team will start moving soon towards EU direction.

Bear in mind that the majority of these programmes have the ending cycle in 2020 (2014-2020), however the good news is the chances are the next cycle of 2021-2028 won't bring important changes so start reading.

I encourage you greatly to follow the material I prepared, as well as official website europa.eu for all the details about these funds. If you don’t dare organising something on your own, at least make sure you know about the opportunities you can take advantage of as a beneficiary.
